Canyon de Oro
This project at the base of the Organ Mountains is for Wayne and Elizabeth Grinnell, a wonderful couple full of unique ideas.  They collect antiques, so this home is designed to showcase some of their favorite pieces, including the kitchen island and a hoosier cabinet that is an incredible find.
The green features of this home include photovoltaic panels, a windmill, a water tower, reclaimed wood, polyurethane foam insulation encasing the home, a state of the art high efficiency HVAC system in conditioned space, and a grey water system..
There are vigas and beams throughout most of the home, and the interior is more in keeping with the traditional arts and crafts style, complete with an inglenook, keeping room, formal library, and a vintage kitchen.  The floors are reclaimed maple flooring and brick,  giving the home a timeless feel.
At the base of the Organ Mountains, with Bishop's Cap to the south and the Organ Needles to the north, it is one of the most beautiful homesites we've ever built on.   Wayne and Elizabeth will spend many a day sitting on their porches taking in the views, solitude, and wildlife. With not another home in their view, it feels like a mountain hideaway, yet it's minutes from Las Cruces.  It is an amazing project.
